Member Spotlight: ESSL Arsenal

In this Member Spotlight, we’re taking a closer look at ESSL Arsenal.

ESSL Arsenal Soccer Club is located in Millbury, Ohio. We have players from all over northwest Ohio including Millbury, Northwood, Genoa, Oak Harbor, Pemberville, Oregon, Rossford, and the Toledo area. We started in 2003 and have grown to 15 teams (about 200 players) strong. We have both girls and boys teams and we pride ourselves on being the most affordable competitive/travel soccer club in the area. Our club is volunteer-led and non-profit which allows us to provide a great soccer experience for our families at a lower cost.

  • What kinds of programs do you offer?

Our girls and boys teams participate in the NWOYSL and we travel to tournaments at least once per season. We offer indoor training sessions in the winter months and most of our teams also participate in indoor soccer leagues.

  • What values does your organization have?

Our #1 value is to run our Club as a “family.” Every decision we make is based on what is best for the player first, then the team, and lastly the club. We have many players in our club with siblings on other teams and we love that. We travel together as a club at least once per season to the same tournament and try and stay at the same hotels, etc. We have a Club Picnic each year so all of our families can enjoy an afternoon together at our fields.

  • Why is ESSL Arsenal a member of NWOYSL/OSA?

We love being a part of NWOYSL/OSA because of the support we receive for coach education and player improvement. Everyone we work with at those organizations is helpful and knowledgeable.

  • What other information you would like people to know?

Our tryouts are on June 1st and 2nd every year. We invite anyone looking for a soccer “home” to check us out! You can also follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/esslarsenal.
