OSA Welcomes Sally Gladwell to Board of Directors

MAINEVILLE, Ohio (January 10, 2023) – Ohio Soccer Association (OSA) is excited to welcome Sally Gladwell as the newest addition to its Board of Directors. Gladwell, who resides in the greater Toledo area, will fill the final Independent Director seat.

“We are thrilled to have Sally join our Board,” said Gordon Henderson, OSA CEO. “She has been invested in our sport for some time and will bring an added dimension to our organization in many ways, including her team, project, creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. As a parent to three soccer players, she comes with keen insight from the sidelines. We are excited to work with her.”

Gladwell is currently a Senior Vice President and Principal for The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. (MSG), an Ohio-based engineering and environmental consulting leader. She serves on MSG’s Board of Directors and leads the firm’s Environmental Business Sector for Ohio. Additionally,

  • Sally is a Certified Professional in Ohio’s Voluntary Action Program (VAP) for brownfields revitalization and has more than 29 years of experience in the environmental field focused on urban revitalization, environmental due diligence, natural resources restoration, sustainability, and developing funding strategies for clients.
  • Through her keen problem-solving skills and creativity she has worked with diverse project teams to develop projects that transform underutilized land and restore ecological services.
  • Sally has completed and has helped design and lead technical writing courses and an environmental due diligence course for environmental consultants. She is a successful grant writer, combining strong writing and organizational skills with a solid understanding of regulatory issues and requirements.
  • She is committed to community-wide revitalization. Sally has organized and hosted workshops to explore funding opportunities for brownfield revitalization in Ohio and has developed numerous projects regionally that help transform underutilized/abandoned land, uplift communities, most recently the Schneider Park Revitalization Project in Toledo – a collaboration with the City of Toledo, Toledo Football Academy, and Toledo Celtics.

“It’s an honor to be asked to serve an organization committed to innovation, integrity, teamwork, and trust as OSA’s pillars suggest,” says Gladwell. “My friend, Paul Holdgate, sometimes humbly tells me that he knows he’s “not saving lives with soccer,” but I politely push back: my three kids, Hank (20), Sam (17), and Eleanor (14) all credit soccer as being one of the things most helpful to surviving their grief following the unexpected death of their beloved dad and my husband of 25 years in 2019. This is one of the reasons I have been passionate about not just creating purpose-built and sustainable spaces for soccer, it’s why I’m willing to contribute what I can to OSA and its member organizations.”

Ohio Soccer Association will hold seat elections for its Board of Directors in the positions of Vice President, District 3 (Youngstown), and District 5 (Columbus) at the 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM) & Workshop on February 25 in Dayton. OSA member leagues and clubs may vote for VP and their own district seat (if up for election) at the AGM. Each OSA member league and club, including staff, directors, coaches, referees, etc., are also invited to attend the all-day Workshop event which features relevant presentations to the sport of soccer, including coaching, refereeing, business operations and much more.
